CAUSE FOR CELEBRATION

May I have your attention please.

As of today, this site is officially indexed by Google! The timing is absolutely bang on, as I was just telling my Google-employed friend tonight that no amount of self-Googleing would yield My Life, Censored. And then, a few hours and no trifling number of calories later, there it was.

Is it me, or is Googleing yourself too much fun? This sh*t could keep me entertained for days. It's downright dangerous.

And speaking of dangerous, check out the calorific dessert portion of the aforementioned feeding frenzy. That's my friend's enormous, lasagna-sized tiramisu in the background, and my decadent chocolate con churros in the fore. These desserts, along with a multitude of unmentioned savory delights, were had at what is now my favourite Tokyo restaurant, Cicada.

Because I spent the last 2 blog posts listing unsolicited information about *ME*, there is so much to say that I don't even know where to begin. All of which, of course, is invariably about *ME* anyway, but are inclined toward more recent events in my self-obsessed existence.

So... I'll just give you the "quick" run-through.

First things first. I made a devil's food cake the other day. This may not sound like late-breaking news, but wait 'til you hear what makes it moist and dreamy. Shredded beets. Linda Carucci, I love you. The frosting was to die for; I served the leftovers with some strawberries as a chocolate fondue. Next.

I finished the "storyboard" for my children's book. Here is a small, blurry, inexplicably pink snippet of it. It is now in the process of being illustrated. Properly. Next.

Recently, I had a series of hits from a German site called Anonymouse. My heart skipped a beat when I saw the word in my Site Meter report. Why? Because when I was in the seventh grade, a girl in my class sent me an anonymouse letter, outlining all the ways in which I sucked. Lapsus calami? Doubt it - poor girl never learned to spell. Anyway, the culprit this time around was my dear friend in Shanghai, where such measures are necessary to view dangerous, important, politically-motivated contraband like my blog. In which I discuss chocolate and adolescent bitchiness among Catholic girls' school 7th graders.

And in other news, I saw King Kong. I still don't know how I feel about it. Wasn't that bad, wasn't that good. All I could really think about - as too many flawlessly rendered beasts lunged at a scantily-clad Naomi Watts - was how I wished I'd gone to the bathroom before entering the cinema (this movie is long, folks). Perhaps it's also worth noting that, for the first time ever, I found Adrien Brody to be really cute. I like his nose.

And on the subject of movies, I also saw Mr. & Mrs. Smith. My analysis/critique of this film may be summed up as: eh.

And lastly but definitely not leastly, I did still more Amazon shopping this week. I'm too embarrassed to divulge exactly how much I have spent on books in the last few months. But I'd be much dumber if I didn't read as much as I do, so all in all, I'd have to say it's a good thing. Some recent purchases I will be reviewing soon, no doubt: The Three Incestuous Sisters (quite possibly not what you think it is); Perspective Without Pain; The Time Traveler's Wife; Marley & Me; and The Business of Writing for Children: An Award Winning Author's Tips on Writing and Publishing Children's Books.

More coming soon to a computer near you.

Isn't Cicada great? Their lunch is good too. Nice to have a great restaurant close to my house =)

Speaking of Tiramisu, I had the best Tiramisu ever (not that I've had many all around to world but...) in Firenze last weekend!

I don't understand how y'all could've kept such a great restaurant from me all these years!!

Anything else you're keeping from me? Cough it up!

Wish I could remember the name of my favourite sandwich joint in Florence. It's run by an old couple and they make the most incredible vegetarian sandwich, smothered in stringy, melted cheese.

Those desserts look divine!

And yeah, Mr. and Mrs. Smith was pretty damn awful. It was about 10 times worse than I was expecting. And I was expecting very little indeed. I'm so sick of those two.

The desserts WERE divine!

I couldn't agree more regarding Brangelina, although I'm infinitely more irked by Jude & Sienna.

We won't get into that, though.

I don't usually go for actors, but yes, Adrien Brody is a little hottie. Speaking of actors, I just saw an actor I used to date (well, technically we only hung out around 4 times) on some American TV show and damn if he didn't look better WHEN HE WAS WITH ME!!!

So how are you liking "The Time Traveler's Wife", Cha? What else are you reading?

I am reading by Sherrilyn Kenyon "unleash the night" sad but true! Since picking up a Anne Rice novel about 6 years ago, if any other author mentions vampires and werewolves, I jump up like a woman possessed and buy the book! Michael Connelly "the Closers" basic crime. the autobiography of Richard Pryor, he makes jesus christs' life look mundane and boring, I swear...what that man didnt do? is the question ! And finally "Mistress of Spices" with the old time travellers wife. WOW I am really sad !! booo hooo, maybe I should buy a self help book, how to quit reading so much. Has that been written already? I am SO behind the times, as for Uggs I love em....

Girl, we should start an Ugg Support Group. We are the minority, you realize!

Good job on all the reading; I hear good things about Michael Connelly, though I've never read any of his stuff. I'll be starting on "The Time Traveller's Wife" tonight, unless this cough syrup knocks me out more swiftly than I expect it to!
